More About...
Sister Circles
Sister circles are peer-based support groups that build upon new and existing friendships, and the connection and sense of community found among Black women. Originally embedded in the Black club movement (think book clubs, sewing circles), sister circles exist in the Black community and within organizations that are components of Black women’s lives.

Sister Circles have been providing Black women with help, support, knowledge, and encouragement for the last 150 years. Over time, the term sister circle has come to mean different things to different people. A sister circle may be a group of women within an organization (i.e., church, service club, workplace) who are brought together by a common theme, such as healthy eating, greater spirituality, love of books, etc., or a group of women experiencing the same health concern (i.e., breast cancer, diabetes, and stroke) who come together for education and support.
